NETS Standards for the last couple of weeks....

Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity I've been working on "letting go" a little more to inspire my students' intrinsic interest in learning. I've never struggled with that, but I'm finding that with planning everything out on my Wiki, I'm overly excited about finding cool videos and online resources. I'm trying to NOT share these with students, to help them find genuine answers to writing prompts and questions. Last year, I experienced that sharing one or two resources funneled my students into only using those resources. Instead, I'm providing the questions and letting students discover varieties of answers. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments I've been looking at using a few different outlets for assessing student learning and understanding. I've decided that I prefer Quia over Socrative. My reasoning is that Quia allows a lot of ways to analyze student data. I can easily compare pretests and posttests, while looking at class performance on individual questions to analyze how my teaching affects or doesn't affect student learning of particular standards. I've been comparing "chat" sites, as well. While TodaysMeet and Facebook offer the same chat format, I think I'll use both of these. I like letting them use TodaysMeet during video or audio assignments, and Facebook might be difficult to use during times that require greater amounts of focus. TodaysMeet only has one option...chatting about the topic....or not, they could be off topic, but I can monitor that.
